Ryu Goto, born on July 13, 1988 in New York, is an American violinist. He began playing the violin at age three under the guidance of his mother, who was also a violinist. His half-sister Midori is an internationally renowned violinist. Goto first performed at seven years old at the Pacific Music Festival in Sapporo, Japan. In 2006, he embarked on his first tour across twelve cities in Japan to sold-out audiences. Goto has since performed with orchestras such as the London Symphony Orchestra and the US National Symphony Orchestra, and in venues including Carnegie Hall and the Tokyo Suntory Hall. In 2005, Universal Music signed him to Deutsche Grammophon, after which he released Ryu Goto and Violin Recital. Goto earned a BA in physics from Harvard University in 2011.
