Spirits of Rhythm was an American instrumental and vocal jazz group, active during the 1930s and 1940s. The band's members had previously played in various jazz formations such as Sepia Nevhews, Ben Bernie's Nephews, and The Five Cousins. They adopted the name Spirits of Rhythm after guitarist Teddy Bunn joined them. The group primarily performed at jazz clubs on New York's 52nd Street and in Hollywood during the 1930s and early 1940s, with occasional recordings. Their notable songs include "I Got Rhythm" and "I'll Be Ready". Key members included Teddy Bunn (guitar), Leonard Feather and Ram Ramirez (piano), Wellman Braud and Red Callender (bass). The group featured jazz singers like Red McKenzie, Leo Watson, Wilbur Daniels, and, in scat style, Ella Logan. Spirits of Rhythm disbanded after World War II.
