Sondra Bianca is an American concert pianist and music educator who was born in New York in 1930. She achieved early professional recognition as a child prodigy, performing a Mozart piano concerto from memory for the New York Philharmonic at age nine. Bianca is famous for being the first artist to perform George Gershwin’s Piano Concerto in F in Germany following World War II. Her discography includes recordings of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-flat minor (1950s) and Edvard Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor (1953). Many of her recordings were released under pseudonyms including “Albert Cohen” and “Karl Bernhard.” After retiring from live performances, Bianca continued teaching. She studied at the Mannes School of Music.
