The Urges, an Irish psychedelic garage rock band from Dublin, formed in 2003. Their debut single "Around and (Around Again)" was produced by Pete Holadai of The Radiators From Space and reached number 20 in the Irish singles charts. In 2007, they released their debut album Psych Ward, which garnered positive reviews worldwide. The Urges signed to Little Steven Van Zandt's Wicked Cool record label in New York in 2008, leading to a re-release of Psych Ward with additional tracks. They continued to release singles such as "Fire Burning" and "Passing Us By", the latter garnering significant media attention. The Urges' music were featured on various compilations and they have performed at notable festivals including Oxegen, Primitive, Purple Weekend, Cavestomp, and SXSW.
