Eberhard Büchner, born on November 6, 1939, in Dresden, Germany, was a German singer and opera singer. He studied vocal music at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden. Büchner made his debut as Tamino in The Magic Flute at the Schwerin State Theater in 1964. In 1968, he joined the Berlin State Opera and performed there until 2000. His international debut came in 1971 with Johann Sebastian Bach's Christmas Oratorio in Vienna. Büchner is noted for his roles in Wagner operas such as Lohengrin. He collaborated with notable conductors like Herbert von Karajan, Carlos Kleiber, and Leonard Bernstein. In 1986, he performed in the Vatican and was awarded the Papal Order by Pope John Paul II. After retiring from performing, Büchner founded the FERMATE vocal and concert studio with his wife Heidi in Neuenhagen near Berlin, focusing on teaching and composing.
