Octavio Ramos Pumarejo (1932–2016), known as Tavín Pumarejo, was a Puerto Rican jíbaro singer and comedian born on October 12, 1932, in Caguas. After serving in the United States Army, Pumarejo became a fixture on the variety show El Show de las 12. Often appearing in a pava (peasant hat), he utilized a self-deprecating comedy style involving his stutter, earning the nickname “El Hígado de Ganso”. Pumarejo released 16 albums, frequently backed by his combo, the Río Cañas Sound Machine. In 1985, he collaborated with Conjunto Quisqueya for the album Merengues Jíbaros, featuring the Christmas single “La Finquita”. The track reached Number One on Puerto Rican radio for eight consecutive weeks, becoming one of the year's best-selling recordings. During the 1970s, Pumarejo also appeared in Texaco advertisements alongside Las Caribelles. He died in Río Piedras on September 12, 2016.
