Tobias Schacht, born 1976 in Kamp‑Lintfort, Germany, is better known by his stage name Der Junge mit der Gitarre. Raised in Tecklenburg as the son of a pastoral assistant and organist, Tobias Schacht pursued a classical guitar education followed by a jazz scholarship in Texas before shifting to a career in music. His breakthrough came in 1998 when he performed at the Bizarre‑Festival’s “Speakers’ Corner”, a moment that also inspired his moniker. In 2002 he released the EP Meer sehn, establishing his melodic schlager style. The same year he debuted his debut album Dagegen, followed by the Die Seite wo die Sonne scheint EP that would later appear on the 2003 EP of the same name. In 2004 Tobias Schacht released the album Im Affekt and signed with Edel Music, although that same year he announced his withdrawal from the public eye following mainstream media rejection. His final public performance occurred during a benefit concert in February 2005, after which he effectively retired from the music scene. Tobias Schacht’s work remains catalogued in the German National Library and on MusicBrainz, reflecting his contribution to early 2000s German schlager.
