Frederick Arthur Braceful, also known as Fred Braceful, born on May 2, 1938, in Detroit, was an American jazz drummer. He played drums in his father's band while studying piano at the Konservatorium in Chicago and served in the US Army in West Germany before settling in Stuttgart. In 1963, he joined Wolfgang Dauner's trio and collaborated on various projects, including the rock-jazz group Et Cetera. Braceful worked with notable artists such as Carmell Jones, Kenny Drew, Mal Waldron, and Dollar Brand. He left Dauner in 1973 to form Exmagma, releasing three albums that blended jazz-rock, art-rock, and avant-garde elements. Braceful later moved to Munich, forming his own trio and collaborating with various musicians. He passed away on March 17, 1995, in Munich.
