Austin, Texas-based rock band Sister 7 was formed in 1991 by vocalist/guitarist Patrice Pike and guitarist Wayne Sutton. Pike and Sutton met when they were in high school in Dallas, Texas and began a musical partnership. They started writing songs and rehearsing, choosing to pursue music as a career over college. They relocated to Austin, Texas and began to build an audience through well-received live performances. Originally known as Little Sister, the quartet was rounded out by bassist Darrell Phillips and drummer Sean Phillips. When a Boston-based cover band named Little Sister challenged them for the band name, they became Sister 7. They released their first EP, Free Love and Nickel Beer, in 1994, followed by the live release Little Sister/Sister 7 that same year. They signed with Arista Austin and released the album This the Trip in 1997. The album featured the single “Know What You Mean”, which rose to #76 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #21 on the Adult Top 40 chart. The quartet released the album Wrestling Over Tiny Matters in 2000. The following year, they released the Live album and split up. Pike and Sutton have continued to perform shows as a duo, occasionally performing as Sister 7 with Darrell Phillips.
