Joe Benjamin is a composer, orchestrator, and producer. His career began onstage: as a child he performed as an actor/singer in operas and musicals, and later spent a decade touring as a solo-fronted bandleader - writing every song and leading a New York - based big band where funk collided with swing.
In his late twenties he stepped off the road and returned to school, earning a master’s degree in classical composition and orchestration. Since then, his work has centered offstage as a composer, orchestrator, and producer in the orchestral world - creating orchestral soundtracks for film/TV and building crossover projects with artists across genres (orchestral pop, orchestral R&B, orchestral funk, and beyond).
Today, Joe's output is driven by a clear objective: pushing contemporary classical music toward clarity, impact, and wider accessibility - music that can be understood and felt beyond the usual niche. He is currently developing two operas and serves as a professor at a Paris conservatory. His orchestral collaborations include Metropole Orkest, the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, the Budapest Symphony Orchestra, the Prague Philharmonic, and more.
