Die Gerd Show

The Gerd Show is a German comedy and satire music project that combines political parody with pop and pop song structures. The central member is Elmar Brandt, born on September 20, 1971 in Düsseldorf. He speaks and sings all the lyrics himself and parodies the former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder. From 1999, the Gerd show focuses on musical satire, political exaggeration and media-effective provocation. The genre moves between comedy pop, pop parody and political cabaret. The project achieved nationwide fame in 2000 with the debut album Die Gerd-Show (2000), which reached number 1 in the German album charts. The single of the same name , "Die Gerd-Show", became one of the best-known political songs of the early 2000s. This is followed by the album Gerhard (2001), which also achieves high chart positions. Individual singles such as "Der Steuersong" and "Im Osten" accompany the releases and shape the media discourse of the time.
