Ester Rada is an Israeli singer and actress who was born in 1985. She was born in Kiryat Arba to Ethiopian-Jewish parents who arrived in Israel during Operation Moses. Rada began her music career during her military service in an Israel Defense Forces band. In 2013, she released the EP Life Happens (2013), which featured a blend of ethio-jazz, funk, and soul. She subsequently performed at the Glastonbury Festival and appeared as an opening act for Alicia Keys in Israel. Her debut eponymous studio album, Ester Rada, was released (2014) and featured the singles “No More” (2014) and “Sorries” (2014). The track “Nanu Nay” (2014) reached number 7 on the Israeli radio charts. Her later recordings include the EP I Wish (2015) and the studio albums Different Eyes (2017) and Chesed (2020).
