The Rainkings were an English indie rock band formed in 1989 by Stephen Holt and Dave Swift, former members of Inspiral Carpets and The Bodines respectively, along with drummer John Rowland and bassist Carl Wolstenholme. Their initial releases included the EPs Sictransitgloriaswanson (1989) and Get Ready (1990), both on Playtime Records. Notable members over the years included Nick Farr, Manny Lee, Dave Pears, Cathy Brooks, Chris Hutchinson, and Paul Williams. The band split up in 1996 but reformed in December 2012, releasing a compilation album titled Another Time – 1989-1994, which included remixed and mastered tracks from their earlier years. The band continued to release new material until 2018, including the EP Fiveways (2015) and their final recording Searcher"(2018).
