Ingo Wetzker, also known as Ingo Insterburg, born on April 6, 1934, in Insterburg, East Prussia, was a German musical cabaret artist, comedian, singer, multi-instrumentalist, writer, actor, composer, painter, and illustrator. Fleeing his hometown during World War II, he grew up in Bernburg and later moved to West Berlin, where he studied art pedagogy at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste from 1954 to 1959. His music career began with the EP Guitar-Ingo in 1959, which featured his guitar accompaniment for Klaus Kinski's Brecht ballads. Insterburg formed the comedy group Insterburg & Co. in 1967 with Karl Dall, Jürgen Barz, and Peter Ehlebracht, releasing notable songs like "Ich liebte ein Mädchen" (1970). The group disbanded in 1979 but reunited for various tours until 1993. Insterburg continued as a solo artist, releasing albums such as Ich liebte ein Mädchen in Pankow (1995) and the single "Gymnastiklehrerin à gogo" (2002). He passed away on October 27, 2018, at a hospice in Berlin-Charlottenburg due to complications from colon cancer.
