Lucy Simon, born Lucy Elizabeth Simon on May 5, 1940 in New York City, was an American composer known for her work in theatre and popular music. She began her career as a singer-songwriter with her sister Carly Simon as the Simon Sisters, releasing their debut album Meet the Simon Sisters in 1964, which featured the minor hit "Winkin', Blinkin' and Nod". In the mid-1970s, Simon released two solo albums on RCA Victor: Lucy Simon (1975) and Stolen Time (1977). She won Grammy Awards in 1981 and 1983 for Best Recording for Children with her husband David Levine. Her Broadway debut came with the musical The Secret Garden in 1991, which earned her Tony Award and Drama Desk Award nominations. Lucy Simon also composed the music for Doctor Zhivago, which premiered on Broadway in 2015. She passed away on October 20, 2022, at the age of 82.
