Marco Käppeli, born on March 1, 1951, in Basel, Switzerland, is a jazz drummer. He studied at the Swiss Jazz School in Bern. Early in his career, Käppeli performed with John Wolf Brennan and Thomas Dürst in the quintet Impetus. In 1985 and 1986, he played at festivals such as the Willisau Jazz Festival and Montreux Jazz Festival. He toured Asia in 1990 with Hans Koch and Martin Schütz in the group Koch-Schütz-Käppeli. Käppeli has worked extensively with his own Marco Käppeli Selection, releasing the album Lava-Bowle. His collaborations include projects with Albin Brun, Joe Malinga’s Southern African Force, and Omri Ziegeles’ Billiger Bauer. In addition to his musical career, Käppeli has acted on stage, including at the Theater Neumarkt and the Theater Winkelwiese.
