Kazumasa Oda, born on September 20, 1947, is a renowned Japanese singer-songwriter and former leader and vocalist of the band Off Course.The band, originally called "The Off Course," was formed during their university years, though their musical career took precedence over their architectural aspirations. After several member changes and an initial struggle in the music industry, Off Course gained popularity with numerous hit songs in the 1970s and 1980s, such as "Sayonara", "Yes-No", and "Kimi ga, Uso wo, Tsuita". Despite considering disbandment in 1982 following Suzuki's departure, the band continued until 1989 with a renewed lineup. Post-Off Course, Oda launched his solo career, releasing his first solo single "1985" and album K.ODA in 1986. His significant breakthrough came with the hit single "Love Story wa Totsuzen ni" in 1991, the theme song for the drama Tokyo Love Story which sold over 2.58 million copies, marking his first million-seller. Oda continued to achieve success with his music, often featured in dramas and commercials, contributing timeless hits like "Tashika na Koto" (2005) and "Tsutaetai Koto ga Arunda"(1997). His best album series were all in the chart and he released Jiko Best 3 in 2024.
