Gregory Lyle Gisbert (born February 2, 1966) is an American jazz trumpeter and flugelhornist from Mobile, Alabama. Gisbert moved to Denver in 1971 and recorded with the McDonald's All-American High School Jazz Band before attending Berklee College of Music (1984–85). Gisbert performed with the big bands of Buddy Rich (1985–86) and Woody Herman (1987–89). Professional activity included collaborations with Toshiko Akiyoshi, Mingus Epitaph, and Maria Schneider. Leader recordings include Harcology (1992), Big Lunage (1993), On Second Thought (1996), and The Court Jester (1999). A founding member of Convergence, Gisbert appeared on eight Maria Schneider Orchestra albums, including the Grammy-winning Concert in the Garden (2005) and The Thompson Fields (2017), plus Data Lords (2021) and Decades (2024). Gisbert served on the faculty of the University of Miami and the University of Colorado Boulder. Gisbert was inducted into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame in 2024.
