Sigurjón Birgir Sigurðsson, known as Sjón (born August 27, 1962, in Reykjavík), is an Icelandic poet, novelist, lyricist, and screenwriter. Sjón began a writing career at age 16 with the poetry book Sýnir (1978). Using the pseudonym “Johnny Triumph”, Sjón was featured as guest vocalist on The Sugarcubes 1987 single “Luftgitar”, appearing in the music video with Björk and Einar Örn Benediktsson. A frequent collaborator with Björk, Sjón co-wrote the lyrics for the song “I've Seen It All” for the film Dancer in the Dark (2000), which earned nominations for Best Original Song at the 2001 Academy Awards and Golden Globes. Sjón also co-wrote the track “Oceania” for the 2004 Summer Olympics. Sjón won the 2005 Nordic Council Literature Prize for the novel The Blue Fox. His screenwriting credits include the films Lamb (2021) and The Northman (2022).
