Jost Nickel, born on March 6, 1970, in Berlin, Germany, is a German drummer who began playing drums at eleven. He received formal training in Kiel, Hamburg, and New York City under Zach Danziger. In 1994, he joined the fusion band Matalex, recording three albums and touring extensively. Nickel later collaborated with Maxim Nucci and was part of Jan Delay's live band Disko No. 1, contributing to notable albums like Mercedes-Dance-Live (2007) and Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Soul: Live! (2010). He also worked as a session drummer for artists such as Sasha and Mousse T., and has been active as an educator at institutions including the Popakademie Baden-Württemberg. His solo album, The Check In, was released in 2021.
