Mimicking Birds, a rock band from Portland, Oregon, was formed in 2010. The group initially served as a platform for Nate Lacy's home recordings but expanded into a full band after signing with Glacial Pace Recordings, the label founded by Modest Mouse member Isaac Brock. Their debut album, Excerpts from Down the Rabbit Hole, released in 2010, received positive reviews from critics such as Pitchfork Media and PopMatters. The band toured extensively, performing at notable festivals and sharing stages with artists including Fleet Foxes and Conor Oberst. Their subsequent albums included How We Became (2012), Eons (2014), and Layers of Us (2018).
