Louis Halsey is an English choral conductor, arranger, and producer who began his musical training as a chorister at All Saints, Margaret Street. He studied at the University of Cambridge, singing in King's College Choir. In 1953, he founded the Elizabethan Singers, an ensemble that premiered commissioned works by John Gardner and Jonathan Harvey. His recording career includes leading the Louis Halsey Singers on acclaimed albums such as English Choral Music (1969) and Bach: Motets (1971). Halsey’s professional influence extended to the BBC as a music producer and to the University of Illinois as a professor of choral music. He also served as director of music at Regent's University London and guest chorus master for the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir.
