Jaime Guillermo Guardia Neyra, known as Jaime Guardia, was born on February 10, 1933, in Ayacucho, Peru. Despite a family of musicians, he did not receive early support for his musical aspirations and moved to Lima in 1940 where he began playing the charango. In the 1950s, Guardia formed the group La Lira Pausina with Jacinto Pebe Pueyrredón and Luis Nakayama Acuña, releasing six albums together. He also performed as a soloist on various stages and television programs. During this period, he collaborated with writer José María Arguedas, who dedicated his novel Todas las sangres to Guardia. In the later years of his career, Guardia mentored Manuelcha Prado, and they often performed together, showcasing traditional Peruvian music. Notable compositions by Guardia include "Golondrina Viajera" (2008) and "Jardín abandonado" (2008). He passed away on July 16, 2018.
