Herbert Raymond Pillow was an American country music singer and music publisher born on 4 July 1937 in Lynchburg, Virginia. He achieved professional recognition for having 18 singles on the Billboard country songs chart. His highest-peaking track was “I'll Take the Dog” (1966), a duet with Jean Shepard that reached number 9. His recording career began with the debut studio recording Presenting Ray Pillow (1965). His discography includes the studio recordings I'll Take the Dog (1966), People Music (1969), and Countryfied (1975), the latter of which reached number 46 on the charts. After his final chart appearance in 1981, Pillow founded Sycamore Records with Larry McFadden and worked in the artists and repertoire department for Capitol Records. He achieved professional recognition as a member of the Grand Ole Opry from 1966. Pillow became inactive in 2018 and died on 26 March 2023.
