Igor Mikhailovich Zhukov, born on August 31, 1936, in Gorki, RSFSR, was a pianist and conductor. He began his musical education at the Moscow Conservatory in 1955, studying under Emil Guilels and Heinrich Neuhaus. Zhukov's breakthrough came in 1957 when he won the second prize at the Long-Thibaud International Competition in Paris. In 1963, he founded the Zhukov Trio with violinist Grigori Feighin and cellist Valentin Feighin, known for their "Historical Concerts", presenting a repertoire spanning the 17th to 20th centuries. Zhukov also founded the New Moscow Chamber Orchestra in 1983. Zhukov passed away on January 26, 2018, in Moscow.
