Jean-Christophe Frisch, born in 1959 in France, is a flutist and conductor specializing in Baroque music. After studying biology, he debuted with Jean-Claude Malgoire's ensemble La Grande Écurie et la Chambre du Roy. Frisch recorded for the labels Adda and Erato, including works by Gaspard Le Roux, Marin Marais, and Mozart. He founded the Baroque music ensemble XVIII-21 Musique des Lumières, later renamed XVIII-21 le baroque nomade in 2006. The ensemble gained recognition with performances at festivals like Ambronay and La Chaise-Dieu. Frisch's work with XVIII-21 included the recreation of the chamber version of Rameau's Les Indes galantes and collaborations with soprano Cyrille Gerstenhaber. The ensemble also produced L'Imprésario des Canaries, an opéra-bouffe by Domenico Scarlatti and Domenico Sarri.
