Balakrishna Ganeshan Yogeswaran Veerasingam, known professionally as Yogi B, and born on December 14, 1974, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is a rapper and music producer who pioneered the Tamil hip-hop genre. Raised in a multicultural environment by an Indian Tamil-speaking family, his early exposure to diverse languages influenced his unique musical style. Yogi B founded the Malaysian hip-hop group Poetic Ammo in the mid-1990s, which won several awards including Best English Album at the Anugerah Industri Muzik (AIM) Music Awards in 1999. The mid-2000s marked a significant rise in his popularity with the release of the album Vallavan in 2006, featuring the standout track "Madai Thiranthu", which resonated globally.
