Jan Sievers, born Jan‑Sievert Krause on 11 August 1977 in Trier, Germany, began writing songs at fourteen and later studied advertising before being discovered by a producer. In 1999 he signed his first contract, recording an album that remained unreleased after the label’s bankruptcy. He left his advertising job in 2004 to focus on music, founded the band BLINDTEXT in 2005, and later launched a solo career with the single "Die Suche" in March 2010, which entered the German singles chart for five weeks and peaked at number forty‑four. The single preceded his debut album Abgeliebt (Warner Music, 21 May 2010), which reached number thirty‑eight on the German and Swiss charts. The album featured collaborations with Rosenstolz members and the jazz musician Martin Tingvall, and included the duet "Nichts zu bereuen" with AnNa R. In September 2011, the single "Was ist dann Liebe?" featuring Anne Hertz was released; its video won the 2012 Music‑Fachaward for best music video. Sievers continued with the EP Sie ist wie April (2013), the second album Neue Heimat (2016), and toured with acts such as Silly and Anna Loos. In 2015 he successfully crowdfunded over twenty‑thousand euros to record orchestral parts for Neue Heimat. Beyond recording, Sievers has written songs for Annett Louisan and Gunter Gabriel, and since 2019 has worked as a coach and speaker, founding the Awaken Yourself Academy in 2025.
