Plaid Retina was an American punk rock band from Visalia, California, formed in 1986. The group initially began as a metal band called Oblivion before evolving through several iterations. Their breakthrough came with the release of their self-titled debut EP Plaid Retina in 1988. The band's name was suggested by Dale Stewart of Capitol Punishment, who also connected them with Lookout! Records for the release of their first full-length album Pink Eye in 1989. Following lineup changes, Plaid Retina released several notable works including the EP Boxcar in 1990 and the albums Mind Tracing the Going Down in 1991 and Dead End Mind in 1993. The band remained active until their disbandment in 1996, known for their energetic live performances and contributions to the underground punk scene.
