Gino Robair is an American composer, improvisor, drummer, percussionist, and magazine editor based in the San Francisco Bay Area, California. He studied composition with Barney Childs at the University of Redlands and later with Lou Harrison, David Rosenboom, and Larry Polansky at Mills College, as well as percussion with Ron George, William Kraft, William Winant, and Eddie Prévost. He has recorded with artists including Anthony Braxton and Tom Waits and has performed with John Zorn, Nina Hagen, and Thinking Fellers Union Local 282, and is a founding member of groups such as Splatter Trio and Pink Mountain. He has also composed for ensembles, theatre, and media, including serving as music director for the California Shakespeare Festival and contributing to "The Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat." In addition to his performance career, Robair is a former editor-in-chief of Electronic Musician and Keyboard magazines and has authored books on recording and music production.
