VCR, a punk rock band with synthpop leanings, formed in November 2002 in Richmond, Virginia and consisted of Chad Middleton on vocals and synthesizer, Stephen Smith on bass, Mya Anitai on vocals and synthesizer, Casey Tomlin on synthesizer, and Christian Newby on drums. Their debut self-titled EP was released by Pop Faction Records in 2003 with a limited run of approximately 1,000 copies. In 2005, VCR signed with SideOneDummy Records, which re-released their debut VCR EP with an altered track listing. The band's first full-length album, Power Destiny, followed in 2006. Notable songs include "Bratcore" (2005) and "Do You Wanna Triumph?" (2006). In 2011, Misfits Cassette Tape (2006) was re-released on vinyl by Riot Style Records. VCR played their last show in 2007.
