Carlos Mena, born Carlos Mena on April 7, 1971, in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain, is a countertenor known for his contributions to classical music and opera. He graduated from the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel, specializing in Baroque and Renaissance music under instructors Richard Levitt and René Jacobs. Mena's career began with collaborations with renowned ensembles such as Al Ayre Español, La Capella Reial de Catalunya, Il Seminario Musicale, and Ricercar Consort, performing in prestigious venues like the Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie in Brussels, the Konzerthaus in Vienna, and the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. His operatic roles include Radamisto in Radamisto by G.F. Handel at the Felsenreitschule in Salzburg and Speranza in Orfeo by Monteverdi at the Staatsoper in Berlin. Mena has released numerous albums, including Et Iesum (2004), and received notable awards such as the Diapason d'Or de l'année in 2002 for De Aeternitate.
