DEKAdance

DEKAdance, a rock band from Dresden, Germany, was formed in 1985 during the era of the German Democratic Republic. Known for their eclectic musical style blending folk music to heavy metal, DEKAdance's debut album Happy Birthday (1989) featured "Alex Goes To Hollywood", which addressed travel restrictions at the time. The band released several notable albums including Dem deutschen Volke (1991), Peace Light (1992), and Unfugged (1994). DEKAdance announced their split in April 2022 after a 35-year career, citing unforeseen circumstances. Their final performance took place in August 2024 at the Junge Garde in Dresden for Olaf Schubert's 30th anniversary on stage.
