Guido Pietro Deiro, born on September 1, 1886, in Salto Canavese, Italy, was a vaudeville star and accordionist who started playing the ocarina and later the diatonic button accordion. He was discovered by an agent for the Orpheum Vaudeville Circuit in 1910, which led to his debut at the American Theatre in San Francisco. Deiro's career took off as he traveled extensively across the United States and Canada, becoming a headliner on the vaudeville circuit. He composed notable songs such as "Kismet" (1911), which was later used in stage and film productions. Throughout his career, Deiro recorded over 110 songs, primarily for Columbia Records. He died on July 26, 1950.
