Buranovskie Babushki, an Udmurt‑Russian folk‑pop group formed in 970 in the village of Buranovo, Russia, consisted of eight elderly women who collectively performed under the collective name. The ensemble’s inception followed a local initiative to preserve traditional Udmurt music, with members such as Anna Prokopyeva and Valentina Serebrennikova among the original lineup. Their breakthrough came in 2010 when they entered Russia’s Eurovision selection with "Dlinnaja‑dlinnaja beresta i kak sdelat’ iz nee ajšon", securing third place. In 2012, they won the national selection with "Party for Everybody" and represented Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest in Baku, where they finished second with 259 points, the highest placement for a Russian entry at that time. The success of "Party for Everybody" propelled the group into international visibility, and they subsequently toured Europe, performing in countries such as Sweden and Azerbaijan. In 2018, they released the album Внучка, further cementing their status in the folk‑pop genre. Throughout their career, Buranovskie Babushki contributed to the reconstruction of the Trinity Church in Buranovo, donating all earnings to the project, which was completed and consecrated in 2016.
