The Russian female pop band Tutsi was formed during the music show Star Factory-3 in 2004 by the producer Viktor Drobysh. The band’s initial members were Irina Ortman, Maria Veber, Anastasia Krainova, and Olesya Yaroslavskaya. The first song of the newly made band was «Самый-самый» (‘The Best’) became a hit immediately. This first track is arguably the best in Tutsi's discography. In 2005, the band’s debut album Самый-самый (The Best) came out but got lukewarm reviews from critics and the public. Despite the fact that the band released new songs and filmed music videos, Tutsi began losing popularity. In 2007, the second album, Капучино (Cappuccino), was released. The song «Чашка капучино» (‘Cup of Cappuccino’) was the one noticed by the public but critics reacted to the record even more categorically than to the first one. Since 2009, the group rarely made media appearances and had very few concerts. The members developed their solo careers, and in 2012, Tutsi officially disbanded. In 2019, after a 10-year break, Irina Ortman, Olesya Yaroslavskaya, Maria Veber, and with – now – Nataliya Rostova, recorded the single «Самый лучший мужчина» (‘The Best Man’) and announced Tutsi's reunion. In 2022, the band presented a new song, «Пропади всё пропадом» (‘Damn It All’).
