Keith Secola, born in 1957 in Cook, Minnesota, is an Ojibwe-American musician known for his contributions to rock and folk music. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in American Indian Studies in 1982. Secola's musical journey began with various band names including the Wild Band of Indians, the Wild Javelinas, and Wild Onions. His breakthrough came with the release of Circle in 1992. He gained significant recognition for his upbeat folk rock song "NDN Kars" from the film Dance Me Outside. Secola's music has been featured in several documentary films, including Homeland, Patrick's Story, and Dodging Bullets—Stories from Survivors of Historical Trauma. In 2006, he won Best Artist at the Native American Music Awards for his album Native Americana A Coup Stick (2005). Secola has also been an activist, working with Irene Bedard on environmental and Native American issues.
