Lunice Fermin Pierre II (known as Lunice), born on May 15, 1988, is a Canadian record producer and DJ hailing from Montreal, Quebec. Initially making a name for himself as a competitive b-boy, showcasing his skills with the 701 Squad, it was during the early 2000s that he found the inspiration to create his own music using beat-making software, debuting as a DJ at Hovatron's monthly Bass Culture event in Montréal in 2007. The following year, Lunice released a video for Lazersword's "Gucci Sweatshirt," further solidifying his presence in the music scene by participating in the London edition of the Red Bull Music Academy in 2010 and performing at the Sonar Music Festival the same year. Joining forces with LuckyMe, Lunice released two EPs, Stacker Upper (2010) and One Hunned (2011), catching the attention of producer Diplo and his Mad Decent label, leading to a remix of Deerhunter's "Helicopter" and a collaboration with Azealia Banks, where he featured in her video for the song "212." Throughout 2010 and 2011, Lunice embarked on international tours, working with prominent labels like XL Recordings, Warner Bros. Records, Palms Out Sounds, Young Turks, Big Dada, and Top Billin'. Lunice's partnership with Hudson Mohawke resulted in the formation of the group TNGHT, seeing the duo release their self-titled EP in 2012. Releasing a string of solo tracks over the years including “Can’t Wait to Be" in 2014, Lunice unveiled his debut solo album, CCCLX in 2017, collaborating with The Alchemist, on his EP Moving Parts the same year. Continuing to record new tracks with TNGHT, including singles “Serpent” and “Dollaz” from their 2019 EP II and “Tums” in 2021, Lunice returned in 2023 with second solo album, Open.
