Mark Alton Masters, born November 13, 1957, in Gary, Indiana, U.S., is an American jazz trumpeter, composer, and arranger. He studied at Riverside City College and California State University, Los Angeles, making his first recordings as a leader in 1984 with the album Early Start. Throughout his career, Masters released several notable albums including Silver Threads Among the Blues (1986), Priestess (1990), The Clifford Brown Project (2003), and Porgy and Bess: Redefined (2005). He is also known for his work as president of the board of directors of the American Jazz Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to jazz music. Masters' contributions have been recognized by biographer Michael G. Nastos, who noted his significance as a jazz arranger in the 20th and 21st centuries.
