The Goodees, consisting of Kay Evans, Sandra Jackson and Judy Williams, are an American pop music girl group formed in Memphis, Tennessee. The trio met while attending Messick High School and began performing at local events. Their big break came in 1967 when they won a local talent contest, securing them an audition with Stax Records, which signed the group to its newly formed HIP subsidiary.
The Goodees released their debut single "Condition Red" that same year, a teen melodrama that peaked at number 46 on the Billboard charts and became their only notable hit. The song is featured on various girl-group compilations, including Rhino's One Kiss Can Lead to Another and Where the Girls Are. Their other notable track "Jilted" appears on volume six of the latter series. In December 2010, Ace Records UK issued a comprehensive compilation titled Condition Red! The Complete Goodees, which includes their entire Candy Coated Goodees LP, four non-LP singles and B-sides, and seven previously unreleased tracks.
