Sylvin Marc, a French musician of Malagasy origin, was born in Madagascar on 16 October 1949. He is known for his work as a bassist and arranger. Early in his career, Sylvin Marc collaborated with various artists in studios, on television, radio, and live performances. His notable collaborations include Eddy Louiss, Aldo Romano, Didier Lockwood, Jeff Gilson, Michel Jonasz, Catherine Lara, Maxime Le Forestier, Chris Rea, Nina Simone, Éric Vincent, Max Middelton, Eric Seva, Jean-Michel Kajdan, Francis Lockwood, Khalil Chahine, Manu Katché, Ramon Pipin's odeurs, Benoît Widemann, Kirt Rust, Babik Reinhardt and Mokhtar Samba. In 1992, he released his album 5/5. He continued to release albums such as Sylvin Mark Sextet in 2007. Sylvin Marc has also authored a method for the bass. Since 1993, he has maintained an international career with Chris Rea.
