Victor Harold Flick, born on May 14, 1937, in Worcester Park, Surrey, was an English studio guitarist known for performing the guitar riff in the "James Bond Theme. " He began playing guitar at fourteen and joined his father's dance band. By the mid-1950s, Flick worked regularly in bands at Butlin's holiday camps and was recruited by bandleader Eric Winstone for BBC radio shows. In 1963, he left the John Barry Seven to become one of London's leading session guitarists. He played on the soundtrack of Dr. No, contributing the iconic guitar riff to "James Bond Theme." Flick continued to work on James Bond soundtracks through the late 1980s and collaborated with numerous artists, including Dusty Springfield, Nancy Sinatra, Cliff Richard, Shirley Bassey, Peter and Gordon, Tom Jones, Petula Clark, Herman's Hermits, and Paul McCartney. He died on November 14, 2024, at the age of 87 due to complications from Alzheimer's disease.
