The Waybacks is an American band from San Francisco, California, formed in 1998 at The Plough And The Stars pub. They released a first album, Devolver (2000). In 2001, Joe Kyle Jr. and Chuck Hamilton joined the band, leading to the release of Burger After Church (2002). They signed with Compass Records, releasing From the Pasture to the Future (2006). Their album Loaded (2008), produced by Byron House, reached number 4 on Billboard's Top Bluegrass Albums list. Notable performances included sets at MerleFest and Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, as well as collaborations with artists such as Bob Weir and Emmylou Harris. They performed sporadically and became known for their Hillside Album Hour at Merlefest, where they covered entire classic rock albums.
