Karnataka are a Welsh progressive rock band from Swansea formed in 1997. The group was established by bassist Ian Jones, keyboardist Jonathan Edwards, and vocalist Rachel Jones. They achieved professional recognition for a musical style blending traditional Celtic music with progressive rock. They released their eponymous debut studio album, Karnataka (1998), followed by the recording The Storm (2000). Their recording career includes the studio recording Delicate Flame of Desire (2003), which featured guest vocals by Anne-Marie Helder and received airplay on BBC Radio 2. After disbanding in 2004 for personal reasons, Jones resumed activity with the ensemble in 2005 alongside keyboardist Gonzalo Carrera. Their discography includes the studio recordings The Gathering Light (2010), which received the Best International Album award at the Prog Awards, and Secrets of Angels (2015). Following subsequent lineup changes, they issued the studio recording Requiem for a Dream (2023). The ensemble consists of Ian Jones, Sertari, Luke Machin, Rob Wilsher, and Jack Summerfield.
