Tim Fain, born in Santa Monica, California, is an American violinist. He began studying the violin at age seven with his father and later studied under Haroutune Bedelian at the Royal Conservatory of Music in London. Fain's career launched with Young Concert Artists and was awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant. In 2007, he performed Aaron Jay Kernis' Lament and Prayer with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Fain has collaborated extensively with Philip Glass, performing compositions by Glass including works written specifically for him. He has also worked on feature film soundtracks such as Black Swan, 12 Years a Slave, and Moonlight. Notable performances include his debut with the San Francisco Symphony in April 2023 and appearances at Carnegie Hall and the Vatican.
