Los Mockers, a Uruguayan rock and roll and beat band formed in Montevideo in 1963, emerged from a group of 16-year-old students at Liceo Zorrilla. Initially known as Los Encadenados, they adapted songs by The Beatles and other British bands before releasing their first single, "Es difícil callar / Horas, días y noches" in 1964. Renaming themselves Los Mockers, they released several singles, including "Quiero irme / Nena mía" (1966), "Empty Haren / Let me try again" (1966), and "Captain Grey / Confusion" (1967). Their album, Los Mockers, followed in 1966, with a second album, Mockers II, released in 1968. The original line-up disbanded in 1967 due to internal conflicts and economic issues, but reunited in 2006 for commemorative performances.
