Carmen Prieto Ruiz, known professionally as Carmen Cardenal, born on July 16, 1955, in Delicias, Chihuahua, Mexico, is a ranchera singer and actress. She began her career at a young age, participating in radio and television programs. In 1977, she moved to Mexico City, where she became a finalist in the television program Siempre en Domingo. She released several albums throughout the 1980s, including Carmen Cardenal (1981), Alegre y Romántica (1984), and Hijo de la Mala Vida (1984). In 1988, she released the album De Distinto Modo, marking a shift towards ballads. She gained international recognition through tours in the United States, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Spain. Her notable achievements include a nomination for Best Actress at the Ariel Awards in 1991 for her role in the film Tres Veces Mojado and a tribute to Juan Gabriel.
