Hot Club de Norvege, a string jazz quartet from Norway, was established in 1979 by guitarist Jon Larsen alongside childhood friends Per Frydenlund and Svein Aarbostad. Initially influenced by the music of Hot Club de France and French gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt, they formed a quartet with violinist Ivar Brodahl, who was later replaced by Finn Hauge. In 1980, they started the Django Festival in Norway, contributing to the international renaissance of gypsy jazz in the 1980s. Their debut album String Swing was released in 1981, followed by notable releases such as Old, New, Borrowed & Blue (1982), Gloomy (1984), and Swing De Paris (1986). The band collaborated with prominent artists including Stéphane Grappelli, Jimmy Rosenberg, Stochelo Rosenberg, Nigel Kennedy, and the Vertavo String Quartet. In 2019, Larsen retired and was replaced by Ola Erlien.
