Richard Marsella, known professionally as Friendly Rich, was born in Brampton, Ontario, Canada, and is a music composer and musician who earned a Master's degree in music at the University of Toronto. He began composing background music for television shows such as MTV's "The Tom Green Show" from 1998 to 2001. His first album, Brampton, was released in 2000. In 2006, he released "The Friendly Rich Show", which showcased his satirical songwriting style combining beat poetry and political commentary. Dinosaur Power, released in 2008, appeared on the !earshot National Top 50 Chart. He signed a deal with Hazelwood Records (Germany) to release two albums in Europe: We Need a New F-Word and The Sacred Prune of Remembrance. In 2014, he released his solo album Bountiful, followed by an arrangement and performance of Modest Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition" with The Lollipop People in 2018.
