Scale the Summit, an American instrumental progressive metal band, was formed in Houston, Texas, in 2004 by guitarist Chris Letchford and Travis Levrier. They later added Jordan Eberhardt on bass guitar and Pat Skeffington on drums while attending the Los Angeles Musicians Institute. The band released their debut album, Monument (2007), and signed with Prosthetic Records in 2009, releasing Carving Desert Canyons (2009). They gained significant attention touring with Dream Theater on the Progressive Nation 2009 tour. Subsequent albums included The Collective (2011), The Migration (2013), V (2015), and In a World of Fear (2017). Notable lineup changes occurred, with Mark Michell replacing Eberhardt in 2012 and J.C. Bryant taking over for Skeffington in 2015. The band released their seventh studio album, Subjects (2021), which was recognized by PopMatters as the number 10 progressive metal album of that year.
